Tips for choosing an e-mail address |
---|
Every e-mail address consists of the local part of the address (everything before the character '@'), the domain part of the address (everything behind the character '@' but before the last point character '.') and the top-level domain, which is everything after the last point character '.'. An e-mail address therefore consists of: local part@domain part.top-level domain Usually, the local part consists of first name and last name (sometimes abbreviated), separated by the point character. Please note that most e-mail programs limit recognizable e-mail addresses to the following characters abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789.-_ Additionally, they are case insensitive and convert capitals to lower case characters. Therefore, we recommend using only lower case characters. The domain part is provided by exanote (exanote for example). You may also use a domain that you already have. The top-level domain is assigned during the registration of a domain and usually indicates the country where the domain is registered. Exanote provides the following combinations of domain and top-level domain for e-mail addresses: exabox.com, (com is the top-level domain for commercial use or everybody) exabox.ch, (ch is the top-level domain of Switzerland) exabox.de, (de is the top-level domain of Germany) exabox.eu, (eu is the top-level domain of the European Union) exabox.fr, (fr is the top-level domain of France) exanote.com, (com is the top-level domain for commercial use or everybody) exanote.ch, (ch is the top-level domain of Switzerland) exanote.de, (de is the top-level domain of Germany) While choosing an e-mail address for your exanote mailbox you can select from these combinations of domain and top-level domain. Example of an e-mail address using a domain provided by exanote: Mister John Doe has typically the following e-mail address at exanote: john.doe@exanote.com The domain exanote and the top-level domain com are provided by exanote in this example. Example of an e-mail address using your own domain: If John Doe is the holder of the domain doe registered under the top-level domain com, he can use the e-mail address john@doe.com. However, it must be defined where the mailbox to this e-mail address will be stored. Exanote can provide storage and administration of the mailbox. That means it hosts the mailbox for John Doe, who is himself the holder of the domain doe under the top-level domain com. If you would like to be the holder of your own domain, we are happy to assist you. Please contact us via help@exanote.com. |
